You may not have been diagnosed with anxiety or depression but you know you are not yourself. You may be feeling sad, tired, nervous, scared, alone, misunderstood, wrong, bad and you don't want to keep feeling like this, something has got to change. Which is why you are reading this page.
I found out I had depression in my mid twenties. I had gone to my GP because I was feeling physically unwell so hearing I was depressed came as a huge shock! I had become so good at ignoring my feelings that the only way they could get my attention was to make me ill. And this was when my positive relationship with counselling began.
It was during my training to become a counsellor that I discovered I also had anxiety and it had been my fear of the anxiety that had stopped me doing the course sooner. I had wrapped so many mantra's around the anxiety so it wouldn't be triggered I had actually made my world smaller. These mantras included I'm stupid, I'm not good enough, I'm boring, I'm bad, I'm not important, I'm weak; do any of these sound familiar? What are yours?
Bereavement, loss and anxiety have had such a huge impact on me, I chose to focus my private practice work on these things. I want to help people make their world bigger whilst staying safe, to be comfortable and accepting of who they are without the judgement we can inflict upon ourselves and build relationships that are supportive and boundaried.
